Celebrating Mamma's

Sending lot's of love to all the Mama's, Auntie's, Mother figures and Mums-to-be this Mother's Day!

If you follow us on Social Media, you would have seen that I shared some of the amazing Mama's in our Luna and Sun Family over the past two weeks.  They also all shared their top tips to help other new Mama's.  We have such an amazing community of women who are so inspirational and it was an honour to have them all share this with us.

My journey to Motherhood started with the launch of my first baby (my business) and then not too long after we launched I found out I was pregnant.  I was still working at my other full-time job, working on the business and then adding pregnancy to the mix was challenging.  Up until 26 weeks, I was experiencing extreme morning sickness every day and the only thing I could eat that didn't make me sick for the first few months was potato chips (which might explain why my daughter loves potato chips haha!).

But after my 'all day' morning sickness decreased, I really enjoyed my pregnancy and feeling all the kicks from my beautiful girl.  The funniest moment was when our puppy Rosie had her head on my belly and Mya gave us the biggest kick. Poor Rosie was so terrified that she never rested on my belly again!

At 39 weeks I started to have contractions and then a long 2 day labour.  With the labour not processing, I ended up having a forceps delivery and Postpartum haemorrhage - it sure wasn't the easiest recovery and even sitting down for the first few months was painful.

But we had the best gift we could ever ask for which is a healthy, beautiful baby girl whom we named Mya (which also means mother).  Although I didn't have the pregnancy or birth I had hoped for it made me appreciate just how important it is to look after yourself and your health.

The first year was filled with so many up's and downs, sleep deprivation and visits to the hospital for recurrent Mastitis.  This is why my new focus at Luna and Sun is around helping mother's especially with their birth recovery as I know how hard it was for me.  I'm hoping to grow Luna and Sun to do more in this space as well as continue our strong focus on ethical and sustainable fashion and education.

I can't wait to show you what I've been working on over the last year. I've put my heart and soul into it and I hope I can help other mother's like me.  We are currently going through a big rebrand, website upgrade and new focus in the coming months so if there is anything I can do to help please feel free to email me at hello@lunaandsun.com.

With Love,

Teshani xx

Wow! Thank you for sharing your story. It’s so refreshing to see women opening up about their journey into motherhood, and it’s so inspiring that you’re using Luna + Sun as a way of helping and encouraging other women going through similar experiences ❤️
